Events in Latrobe

Did you know that Latrobe City is the host and home to many local, national and international events? These events range from sports to festivals and fairs to expos with everything in between. Some of the major events held annually include the Victorian and International Junior Tennis Championships and the Water Ski Championships. The Latrobe City is also the home of the Moe Jazz Festival, one of the best in the state. This event is held annually over the Labour Day long weekend in March and attracts thousand of visitors every year.

The Moe Cup is Gippsland's most prestigious horse racing event where spectators can enjoy a day of high fashion and get that winning feeling. Held annually in October, the Moe cup is part of a cluster of racing events called the Power of Racing held during the spring racing carnival season.

  • Oktoberfest held by the German Club in October is a great day to sample German beer and food. 
  • The Boolarra Folk Festival is held annually in February and is a great day with music, art and craft stalls and local produce.

5-8 March - Moe Tenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival

Moe's TRUenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival is well known for having the best of the best jazz bands from across Victoria and interstate and this year it is set to be even better with the addition of several Blues bands. This annual event held in Moe comprises a myriad of events in and around Moe over the Labour Day long weekend. The weekend begins with a Gala Night on Friday at the Moe RSL. On Saturday there are street activities a jazz parade in the morning and then live jazz music at different venues across the town throughout the afternoon and evening. Sunday begins with a pancake breakfast and a mass at St Kieran's Church then in the afternoon one of the regional tours. To finish off the event, Monday sees a music festival at Old Gipptown in Moe. 10-14 March - Circus Royal

Circus Royal will be in Moe at Apex Park from 1-14 March with shows Wednesday to Friday at 7.30pm, Saturday at 4.00 and 7.30pm and Sunday 11.00am and 2.00pm. for bookings contact 0410 669 256 or visit www.circusroyal.com.au.


 Friday 12 March - Latrobe's Longest Lunch

 As part of the 2010 Gippsland Food and Wine Festival, Latrobe City it hosting a Longest Lunch. Experience great local food and wines, combined with the very best of Gippsland's up and coming young chefs and waiters, as they come together to create a wonderful dining experience overlooking the beautiful Morwell Civic Lake. Friday 12 March - Trivia Night

Head to the Morwell RSL at 7.30pm for a night full of triva fun on Friday 12 March. the cost is $10.00 per person and funds raised will go towards palliative care. To book a table contact 5167 1589.


Saturday 13 March - 12th Anniversary of the community playground

Join in and celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Latrobe Community Playground at Morwell. A great day for all the family with plenty of music, hip hop dancing, hot food, and childrens activities including a jumping castle, face painting and the Traralgon Train. 13 March - Third Annual Wall of Recognition Multicultural Festival

The multicultural festival celebrates the unveiling of more names on the Wall of Recognition. Festivities include multicultural entertainment, food and craft stalls with groups from many ethnic groups coming together to celebrate Gippland's diversity.
