Getting Here

Your journey to the Latrobe Valley begins a mere hour and a half east of Melbourne. The Latrobe Valley is easily accessible via its well serviced rail, roads or airport, so whichever route you wish to take, you will be able to enjoy its unique beauty.

Travelling by Car

From Melbourne:

An easy one and a half hour drive, with rural views, passing through quaint villages along the Freeway.  From Melbourne, travel along the M1 Freeway, and follow the signs to Warragul.  Continue past Warragul, Yarragon and Trafalgar and you will reach Moe; the first town within the Latrobe Valley. From the freeway, you will see “McDonald’s” golden arches in the distance which indicates your turn for Moe. Further along the freeway, approximately 10 minutes drive is Morwell. The middle of the Latrobe Valley towns. Approximately another 10 minutes drive east along the freeway, you reach Traralgon. No turn off is necessary because the freeway goes through the town, making it an ideal place for your stopover to explore the Gippsland region. Clear signposting along the freeway (M1) to the Latrobe Valley makes your travels here stress free.

From Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine):

An easy drive along the City link electronic tollway proceeding towards the south eastern suburbs continuing past Warragul on the M1 free way. You will arrive in the Latrobe Valley in approximately 2 hours. To travel on the City Link tollway, you will need to purchase a pass.  Click here to find out more information or to purchase a City Link pass.

From the New South Wales border:

The Latrobe Valley is accessed via the Princes Highway (A1) from the East coast if you are travelling from the NSW border. You will pass major towns including Lakes Entrance and Sale before you reach the Valley’s major hub Traralgon. It is approximately 2 hours from Lakes Entrance.

Continue your journey to Morwell approximately 10 minutes and the last major town is Moe only another 15 minutes drive. You will see the off ramp sign for Moe which is combined with the township of Newborough. Follow the clear signage which will direct you to your chosen town.
