Population approximately 18,000
Originally known as The Mowie, then Little Moi and late The Moe.
Location: 134km south east of Melbourne
It is located near one of the world’s largest brown coal deposits
With a population of just over 18,000, Moe is the gateway to the goldfields of Walhalla and the snowfields to Mt Baw Baw as well as St Gwinear.

 

Visit the Gippsland Heritage Park and take a step back into history of Gippsland’s Pioneer days. Visitors can take a glimpse of the bygone eras through strolling its authentic old buildings and décor, horse drawn carriages, agricultural machinery and a general store.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Edward Hunter Bush Reserve is an escape to the native bush with a creek and a variety of native wildlife and plants. Close by, Lake Narracan is an ideal spot for all water sport activities including waterskiing, boating and swimming.

The Moe Jazz Festival is a major highlight of the area attracting lovers of fine music, whilst the Moe Cup is a key attraction for lovers of racing during the horse racing season.
