OLD GIPPSTOWN GIPPSLAND HERITAGE PARK

Experience Gippsland in the 1850s and walk the streets of Old Gippstown.  See the classic vehicles and learn about the early European settlement of Victoria. Browse through the main street shops and soak up the atmosphere of Gippsland’s past. Visit the twenty-seven original relocated buildings and their collections such as pioneer Angus McMillan’s “Bushy Park” homestead and “Rhoden’s Halfway House” one of the few remaining Cobb & Co. Inns in existence. Displays in the locations are of their era, with a wide range of antique furniture and artefacts. 

Throughout the year Old Gippstown hosts many family fun days and themed events including Fairies in the Park, Pirates in the Park, Teddy Bears Picnic, Halloween Spooktacular, Car Shows and more.

OLD BROWN COAL MINE MUSEUM

The museum holds an extensive display of memorabilia depicting the early days of the old town and open cut, both known as Brown Coal Mine prior to 1947. Displays include the Yallourn Open Cut No. 8 Dredger and the 6 Mega Watt Turbine Generator from the now demolished Yallourn Power Station.

Explore fascinating photographic memorabilia displays, paintings, clothing, homewares, tools and medals of the original township known as Brown Coal Mine. The Yallourn North & District Historical Society dedicate to future generations a living history of the Old Brown Coal Mine, Yallourn North, Yallourn, and the former State Electricity Commission works area incorporating the Yallourn Power Station.

Opening hours: Sunday 10am - 4pm and Monday & Tuesday 10am - 3pm


 

 

POWERWORKS ENERGY TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

Get switched on at the PowerWorks Technology Centre a centre dedicated to the power industry with educational and interactive displays to excite all ages. Explore the major producer of Victoria’s electricity and brown coal power generation. 

Although tours inside the power stations are no longer running, you can take a self drive here or a guided bus tour here.

Opening hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am - 3pm.  Group bookings outside of operating times are welcome.


 

 

 

 

BEV'S WONDERWORLD OF DOLLS

Bev's Wonder World of Doll's is pleasantly situated in parkland on the banks of Waterhole Creek in the restored Airlie Bank Homestead. Bev's wonderful collection of dolls from all over the world is the result of life long enthusiasm and dedicated passion for gathering dolls. Bev has a vast amount of knowledge and a passionate dedication to recording accurate details of the dolls and where they are from. Bev's ability to display her dolls will take you back to your childhood memories of your own dolls as well as photos and toys from a by gone era.

Opening hours: Wednesday to Friday 10am - 3pm, other times by appointment. Groups can be catered for with morning and afternoon tea, bookings required. Please note: business will be closing 31 July 2017.
