The Latrobe Valley is located 90 minutes (150kms) from the outskirts of Melbourne with a population of over 76,000 residents. Encompassing four major towns of Churchill, Moe, Morwell and Traralgon as well as the outer lying townships of Boolarra, Glengarry, Newborough, Traralgon South, Toongabbie, Tyers, Yallourn North and Yinnar.
A region of surprising contrasts with vibrant towns and peaceful villages, tranquil national parks and picturesque rail trails. Latrobe Valley is also home to Australia’s largest yoghurt manufacturing facility, Federation University, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Australia's largest pulp and paper manufacturer, and the only commercial aircraft manufacturing facility in Australia.
Latrobe Valley hosts many national and international sporting events such as the Victorian Junior Tennis Championships and International Championships, the Latrobe City Pro Am and the Waterski Championships. Other highlights of the event calendar include the Latrobe Spring Racing Carnival, Sister Cities Festival and Boolarra Folk Festival.
V/Line runs an hourly rail service between Melbourne and Traralgon.

Your journey to Latrobe Valley is easily accessible via its well serviced rail and roads, making your journey here a safe and hassle free one. An hour from the snow and sea, Latrobe Valley is your centre to explore Gippsland.
From Melbourne: An easy 90 minute drive along the M1 Freeway following the signs to Warragul. Continue past Warragul, Yarragon and Trafalgar and you will reach Moe, the first town within Latrobe Valley. Further along the Freeway, approximately 15 minutes drive is Morwell, the centre of Latrobe Valley's three major towns. Another 10 minutes drive will bring you into Traralgon. No turn off here is necessary as the highway goes through the town.
From Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine): Following City Link (electronic tollway) will bring you towards Melbourne's south eastern suburbs and the M1 Freeway. Follow signpost to M1 Freeway, South Eastern suburbs and Warragul as above directions from Melbourne. IMPORTANT: To travel on the City Link tollway, you will need to purchase a pass (if you do not have an E-Tag). Find out more information or purchase a City Link pass or phone 13 26 29.
From New South Wales border: Latrobe Valley is accessible via the Princes Highway (A1) from the east coast if you are travelling from the New South Wales border. You will pass major towns including Lakes Entrance, Bairnsdale and Sale before you reach Latrobe Valley's major hub; Traralgon. It is just under two hours drive from Lakes Entrance. Continue your journey to Morwell (approximately 10 minutes) and Moe is just a further 20 minutes.
V/Line rail services run every hour between Melbourne and Traralgon, departing Southern Cross Station in Melbourne's CBD.

GETTING AROUND LATROBE VALLEY
Latrobe Valley has four major towns in Moe, Morwell, Churchill and Traralgon. Each of these towns are are linked through strong rail and bus connections.
Moe, Morwell and Traralgon are situated on the Gippsland Rail Corridor and services run between the towns on an hourly basis.
