Travelling to Walhalla & Mountain Rivers Region From the Melbourne direction:
- Travel along the M1 Princes Highway until you reach the first turnoff to Moe. Take this exit.
- Continue along this road which is Lloyd Street until you reach the intersection where you can cross over the train line near the Moe Racing Club onto Waterloo Road.
- Turn right onto Waterloo Road.
- Turn left into Moore Street and continue up this road at the second roundabout you approach follow the signs by turning left onto the Walhalla Road. For a detailed map of the Moe township please click here.
- Continue along the Walhalla Road passing through Erica then Rawson. This is Route 91, The Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail.
- Turn left onto the C461, you are now only 14kms from Walhalla. Continue on this road it will take you right into the Historic Walhalla Township.
From Sydney direction:
- Travel along the Princes Highway until you reach the township of Traralgon.
- Go past Hungry Jacks and Pizza Hut which are all on your right hand side. At the traffic lights on the corner of the Princes Highway and Grey Street, follow the signs to the Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail by turning right. - Continue along Grey Street until you reach Tyers Road, turn right here.
- Follow this road through Tyers and continue along. You are now travelling on Route 91, The Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail and the road number is C481.
- Turn right at the Walhalla turn off which is the C461, you are now only 14kms from Walhalla.
- This road will take you right into the Historic Township.
Travelling Route 91 - The Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail
The Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Trail (Route 91) is a scenic drive through the majestic Gippsland High Country. This route takes in areas of the Mondarra State Park, Tyers State Park, the historic township of Walhalla, the smaller towns of Erica and Rawson and the commercial towns of Morwell and Traralgon which also act as its gateway.
